Photo Manipulation: Marcel Van Luit was born and raised in a city Groningen, in the Netherlands, northern part. He studied aiming to become a teacher, but even before he began his career in art, he worked as a social worker. His journey started before five years in a very different manner.
Marcel Van Luit was working as a social worker and has his son, Otis. It was the time he was diagnosed with a rare disease GB- Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He was paralyzed, was in the hospital and then was moved to a rehabilitation center. It took a year to get back home. His upper body started functioning and in the rehabilitation center, he had a lot of time that he switched to his hobby. He trained his hands and fingers muscles, though he was in a wheelchair.
He began taking pictures using his camera and took many photos of Otis, his son, who came to visit him. He edited his photos and Marcel created the adventures that he wished he could go with his son. Unknowingly, Marcel emerged with a new talent and passion within him taking to new world. He started playing with light and dark tones.
Rabina the first image attached is from my friend Lior @peopleof. He found this village in northern Tanzania. It is a village covering water crisis that is a huge concern across Africa. In Rabina’s village people dig holes to find water in a dry river bank. Inspired by her hope, Marcel created this artwork and gave 10% of the sales to Rabina’s school fund. He has not released the price.
Marcel gained popularity with his Instagram posts and his fan base grew online. The European Art Scene noticed his art work and his career took wings. At Corrado Bortone Gallery in May 2018 in Paris, he did his first solo exhibition.
He exhibited in December 2018 his work in Antwerp at Jean Art Gallery and was represented at Art Miami by GWS Gallery. In January 2019, there was another exhibition of his work at Maison & Object by Cobra Art Gallery in Paris. In 2019 March, at GWS Gallery it was a solo exhibition again, and in April 2019 at Cobra Art Gallery was running in Amsterdam. Marcel by represented by ADB Agency in Paris, New York, and London, while he creates customized Artwork for all over clients.
Marcel’s inspiration was his son, OTIS that he created pieces of adventure that was a spirit within and highlighted to tonal beauty as a combination. However, his passion garnered him fame through his artworks and he garnered fans all over. He is the captivating modern artists and his pieces present a combination of the natural world that has animals, plants, elements, humans and the spark of imagination that works as an inspiration to find adventure and beauty in this world.
The work of Marcel is nourishment for imagination and feast for eyes. He is happy and says feels honored that he could have a great impact on many people through his work. He is happy to hear how his work has been helpful through difficult times for someone and it warms his heart. He is shocked to see people having his art tattooed and is shocked to see such compliments. He is overwhelmed by his follower’s responses.
As an artist, Marcel believes it is important to reach people with his beautiful work and wishes to make everyone feel happy, calm them, give hope and inspire them to see natural beauty. Though his art pieces, he says he is able to relate with people and give them hope to navigate life.
Marcel goes hiking, fishing, and hunting for treasures in the forest with his two boys and also stays in tree houses. He loves getting free at time to enjoy the surrounding nature and shaking free from the digital worlds and routines. All his art pieces have a story and it is exciting to create pieces of artwork.
Marcel says nature is the best source of inspiration and has timeless beauty. It is impressive and the nature elements are meaningful to set a mood. He believes that dreamers can see beauty in everything. It is because they are the people who escape the rush of lives and see what is important in life. Dreamers think outside the box and long for connection with other people and the planet.
