Digital illustration: Tiago Hoisel is a digital artist from Brazil. He is specialized in his illustration works, and is prominent for his caricatures.
Tiago is from a small town on the coast that carries out typical activities of playing football as a child and continuing with fishing. He grew up in a small city in llheus, that is around 400km from Salvador. At 14 years of age he noticed the caricatures world and it was because of a famous caricaturist, Ique. The works of Ique were published in Brazil in widespread magazines and it attracted him.
Tiago started devoting his time to drawing as the first step and began copying Ique, his style and came up with new references that he began developing his personal style. He graduated and studied Graphic Design, but did not change the direction from art. He focused on the caricatures and illustration than the graphic design. The constancy in producing different works began to present his artistic expression and it left an impact in this category.
The art works of Tiago presents a combination of humor and realism that is his forte. His creations make a good illustration that brings respect to his personality and his work interest. His work is sure to generate fun proving he is an extraordinary artist.
Tiago says he was always fascinated by the volumetric and realism in paintings. He understood that his focus was in drawing and in the beginning his works was in graphite only. He reproduced volumes of grayscale photography and spends four years and understood the perception was good to work with colors. He experimented with color pencils, pastels, and watercolors. With all these he discovered Photoshop and included drawing and shading with graphite. Gradually he started working more in Photoshop and bought his first tablet as he completely migrated to Photoshop. He is still doing the work on his computer only right from the
rough work to completion.
Tiago graduated in Graphic Design, before starting the college, though he was directing his studies towards humor illustrations, and mainly caricatures. Tiago says he had no idea that he would be a professional illustrator one day. He says he drew because he liked it. He was happy that after 10 years of contact of Iques caricatures in Veja magazine, he was invited to publish work in the same magazine.
Presently he is running an illustration studio in Sao Paulo in the name Techno Image. He is working with some talented artists in the CG world as Pedro Conti, Diego Maia, and Lucas Leibholz in our studio. He loves spend his work time with them and says he got to learn a lot from them.
